Whether you’re a one-person operation or a growing business with a full team, we’re here to help. Get in touch and let’s talk about what we can do for you.
Claude Team is Anthropic’s plan for small businesses. It is priced at a flat rate per seat, you need at least two people, and it includes single sign on, domain capture, role based permissions, central billing and spend caps. For a UK SME of 5 to 50 staff it is usually the right plan and the only one worth costing up.
This page sets out what the plan includes, what the admin controls do, and the one thing it does not solve no matter what you pay for it. For current prices, see Anthropic’s pricing page.
What you get | Claude Team | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
Price per seat | A flat price per seat, with a higher usage premium seat available. Billed monthly or annually. | A fixed cost per head. You can budget a year ahead without modelling token usage. |
Team size | From 2 seats up to 150. | There is no minimum of five. Two directors can start on it today. |
Seat types | Mix standard and premium seats in the same workspace. | Put the two people who live in Claude on premium and leave everyone else standard. |
Usage | 1.25x the Pro allowance on standard seats, 6.25x on premium. Context window up to 1M tokens, varying by model. | Enough headroom that staff stop rationing their questions. |
Sign in | Single sign on, domain capture and just in time provisioning. | Staff use their Microsoft 365 login, and leavers lose access along with everything else. |
Admin controls | Role based permissions, central billing, and spend caps at organisation and user level. | One invoice, and a ceiling you set rather than a bill you find out about later. |
Models and tools | The same Claude models as every other plan, plus Claude Code, Claude Cowork and Microsoft 365 integration. | You are not buying a weaker Claude. The plan changes governance, not intelligence. |
Data handling | Commercial terms with a data processing agreement. Your content is not used to train Anthropic’s models. | This is the line that matters for UK GDPR, and it is the commercial plans that carry it. |
Contract | Monthly or annual billing. | Annual billing is cheaper than monthly. Monthly if you want to trial it first. |
Support | Standard Anthropic support channels. | Fine for an SME. Day to day escalation comes through us, not Anthropic. |
A note on currency and VAT. Anthropic publishes and bills Claude Team prices in US dollars, and UK VAT is added on top where it applies. The current figures are on Anthropic’s pricing page.
We do not reproduce the price list here because Anthropic changes it. Always check the published price before you budget.
Claude Team gives an administrator a workspace they can actually run. You control who gets in through single sign on and domain capture, what each person can do through role based permissions, and what the whole thing costs through spend caps set at organisation or individual level. New starters are provisioned just in time, and everything bills centrally on one invoice.
Here is what that means in practice.
Standard seats carry 1.25x the usage allowance of a Pro account and premium seats carry 6.25x, measured per session. The context window runs up to 1M tokens depending on the model you use. For most office workloads that is more headroom than a team will reach in a normal week.
Claude Team is charged at a flat rate per seat, with a standard seat and a higher usage premium seat. You can mix the two in one workspace. You need a minimum of two seats and can grow to 150, and you can pay monthly or annually, with annual the cheaper of the two. Anthropic publishes the current rates on its pricing page.
Claude Team gives you the same models and the same reasoning capability as every other Claude plan. Paying more does not buy a cleverer Claude. On commercial plans like Team, your conversations and uploads are not used to train Anthropic’s models, and the plan carries a data processing agreement.
Claude Cowork and Claude Code are included on every seat type. Premium seats carry the higher usage allowance, which suits power users and anyone running Claude Code at length.
Claude Team uses Anthropic’s standard retention policy. You cannot set a custom retention window or switch a workspace to zero retention, so if you have a regulatory requirement for a specific retention period, check it against the published policy before you commit. For most UK SMEs the standard policy is not the problem. What people paste into the chat is.
Spend caps can be set at organisation level and at individual user level, so a single heavy user cannot quietly become the whole budget. Billing is central, seat types can be mixed, and you can move someone between standard and premium as their usage changes.
For most businesses with 5 to 50 staff, yes. The pricing is predictable, the admin controls cover the things an owner actually worries about, and it hooks into Microsoft 365 without a project to set it up. If you are weighing it against everyone buying their own individual account, Team is cheaper per head once you are past a handful of people and it is the version that gives you any control at all over what happens to company data.
Where it stops being enough is scale and regulated reporting. If you are past 150 people, or a tender or insurer is asking you for formal audit evidence, talk to us before you buy anything.
Whatever plan you buy, you are buying controls over the platform. You are not buying controls over your own data.
Claude does not decide which files your staff are allowed to paste into a chat. It does not classify your data, label what is confidential, or tell you who can currently see the payroll folder. A log will tell you that someone asked Claude about a document. It will not tell you that the document should never have been shareable in the first place. That work happens in your Microsoft 365 tenant, before you switch any AI tool on. It means classifying and labelling sensitive data, putting data loss prevention rules in place, and fixing years of accumulated permission sprawl across Teams and SharePoint. Most businesses we speak to have never audited who can see what, and the answer is usually “more people than you would like”.
That is what our AI Security Pack is for. It combines Microsoft Purview for classification, labelling and DLP with workspace governance for Teams and SharePoint and permission clean-up, web and AI-tool filtering, and a Copilot adoption programme in year one. It sits on top of our Complete Unlimited IT Support plan.
If you want to know where you stand before you commit to anything, half an hour on a call with Adam costs nothing and carries no expectation that you buy anything.
Anthropic prices Claude Team in US dollars, at a flat rate per seat, with a cheaper standard seat and a higher usage premium seat. Annual billing costs less than monthly. Two. The plan runs from 2 seats up to 150. You do not need a minimum of five, and you can add seats as you go rather than buying for the team you expect to have next year.
Yes. Single sign on and domain capture are included, along with just in time provisioning, role based permissions, central billing, and spend caps at organisation and user level. Staff sign in with their existing Microsoft 365 identity, so removing a leaver removes their Claude access too.
No. Team is a commercial plan, and commercial plans carry a data processing agreement and do not use your conversations or uploads to train Anthropic’s models. The consumer plans, Free, Pro and Max, sit under different terms. If staff are using personal accounts for work, that is the gap worth closing first.
For a business, yes. Individual accounts give you no central billing, no single sign on, no way to remove access when someone leaves, and no visibility of what is being pasted into them. Team costs little more per head and is the point at which company data stops being someone’s personal subscription problem.
