Where We Work...

Managed IT Support In North Somerset

IT support for businesses across North Somerset

We look after businesses in Weston-super-Mare, Clevedon, Portishead, Nailsea, Yatton, Congresbury, Backwell and the villages in between. Our office is just up the M5 at Bradley Stoke, so North Somerset is a straightforward run down the motorway when something needs a person in the room.

Most of what goes wrong gets fixed remotely within minutes, long before anyone has to get in a car. But when a visit is genuinely the answer, it happens.

What We Hear From Businesses In North Somerset

The same few things come up again and again.

Nobody is watching between calls.

Your current support is fine when you call, but nobody is watching anything between calls. Problems only get looked at once they have already stopped someone working.

You could not say what you are paying for.

You are paying for something, but you could not say what you actually get for it.

Your broadband decides the day.

Your broadband is the thing that decides whether today is a good day or a bad day, and nobody has ever properly looked at it.

The security questions have started.

Your insurer or a larger customer has started asking security questions you cannot confidently answer.

Old logins that still work.

Someone left eighteen months ago and you are fairly sure their login still works.

None of these are dramatic. They are just the sort of thing that quietly costs you an hour here and a morning there until it adds up to something you notice.

What Is Actually Different About IT In North Somerset

North Somerset is not one place, and that matters more than people expect.

Connectivity changes sharply over very short distances. A business on a Portishead business park can get a connection that would embarrass central Bristol. Drive fifteen minutes towards Wrington or Banwell and the picture is completely different. We have seen two companies in the same postcode district on wildly different lines.

This is why we look at what your connection can actually carry before recommending anything cloud based, rather than assuming it will be fine because it usually is.

The coast brings its own problems.

Salt air and damp are hard on equipment, and server cupboards in older seafront buildings in Weston and Clevedon age faster than they should. We have opened kit that looked fine from the outside and was quietly corroding.

Flood risk is real here, not theoretical.

If your server, your backup drive and your router are all on the ground floor of the same building, you do not have a backup. You have two copies of the same risk.

Weston trade is seasonal.

A hospitality or retail business there has a completely different year to a professional services firm in Portishead. Changes that are sensible in February are a terrible idea in August, and we plan work around that rather than around our own calendar.

Not every business has a comms room.

A lot of North Somerset businesses are run from converted outbuildings, home offices and small units rather than offices with a comms room. That is a perfectly good way to run a company. It just needs setting up properly rather than growing by accident.

What We Do

We look after the whole thing so you do not have to think about it.

01

Monitoring and Maintenance

Monitoring and maintenance that happens in the background, so most faults are dealt with before anyone reports them.

02

A Helpdesk That Knows You

A helpdesk your team can contact Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, staffed by people who know your setup rather than reading from a script.

03

Security That Stands Up to Scrutiny

Security that stands up to scrutiny, including the checks your insurer and your larger customers are increasingly asking about. We are Cyber Essentials certified and hold ISO 9001 and ISO 27001.

04

Tested Backup and Recovery

Backup and recovery that has been tested, with copies held somewhere that is not the same ground floor room as the original.

05

Starters and Leavers

Starters and leavers handled properly, so new people can work on day one and old accounts actually close.

06

On-Site Visits

On-site visits when something genuinely needs hands on it.

07

Third Party Software

Help with the third party software you rely on. We will talk to your line of business supplier so you do not have to sit in the middle translating.

Half the job in North Somerset is finding out what the line can actually do. Two businesses a mile apart can have completely different connections, and if you plan the same solution for both, one of them is going to have a miserable time. We check first. It saves an awful lot of apologising later.

How We Handle Urgent Problems

We work on priority, not fixed response time promises.

We do not use fixed response time promises, because they tend to mean everything gets treated the same regardless of how much it matters.

We work on priority instead. If your whole office is down, that goes to the front of the queue. If someone needs a second monitor setting up, it gets done properly but it does not jump ahead of a company that cannot trade.

Our support hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. If your business needs cover outside those hours, that is something we agree in advance and set up deliberately, rather than something either of us finds out about at 9pm on a Saturday.

What Switching Looks Like

People put this off because they imagine a bad week. It is not that.

01

A Conversation

First we have a conversation about what you have and what annoys you about it. No charge, no obligation.

02

An Audit

Then we audit what is actually there, which is usually not quite what anyone thinks it is.

03

Our Findings

We tell you what we found, what needs doing now, what can wait and what does not need doing at all.

04

A Quiet Takeover

We take over monitoring and support quietly in the background, usually without your team noticing anything other than that the helpdesk number has changed.

05

The Fixes

Then we work through the fixes in a sensible order, starting with whatever is most likely to cause you a bad day.

Most of our clients say the handover week was quieter than they expected.

Who We Help

Businesses across North Somerset come to us at every size and stage. There is more detail on how we work with different kinds of organisation, by business size, by IT maturity and by sector.

Common Questions

The questions we are asked most often by businesses in North Somerset.

All of North Somerset, including Weston-super-Mare, Clevedon, Portishead, Nailsea, Yatton, Congresbury, Backwell and the surrounding villages.

No. We look after businesses with a handful of computers and businesses with well over a hundred. The approach is the same, the package is different.

Not necessarily. Plenty of our clients have someone internal who handles day to day issues and uses us for monitoring, security, out of the ordinary problems and the things nobody wants to be the only person who understands.

Yes, and we would rather do that than have you relay messages between two technical teams. We will speak to them directly.

We have a marketing team that handles web development, so if you need that side of things too, it stays under one roof.

Then that is where we start. There is no point improving everything else if the connection cannot carry it. We will tell you honestly what your line can support and what your realistic options are.

Usually the same or next working day, depending on what else is in the diary. But most problems never need a visit, because they are fixed remotely first.

No. Rolling monthly contracts. If we are not doing a good job, you should be able to leave.

Not sure what you need?

Take our two minute IT health quiz and get an honest read on where you stand. No sales call attached.

Or just talk to us. Tell us what is annoying you about your IT and we will tell you whether we can help, and whether it is worth doing.

Reliable IT for years!

I cannot praise the team at WDYIT enough. They are incredibly responsive, reliable, and a pleasure to work with. We have been collaborating with them for over 10 years and highly recommend their services!
