Whether you’re a one-person operation or a growing business with a full team, we’re here to help. Get in touch and let’s talk about what we can do for you.

What If We Have...

10-50 Employees

IT support for the stage where “ask Dave, he’s good with computers” has stopped working.

Somewhere between ten and fifty people, IT quietly becomes a job. Starters and leavers happen most months, half the team works from home on a Tuesday, and someone has to decide who’s allowed into the finance folder. Usually that someone is your office manager or finance director, doing it on top of their actual role. This page is about what changes at your size, and what to put in place before it starts costing you.

The Problem

You’ve outgrown the stage where IT is one person’s side project, but you’re probably not big enough to justify hiring someone full time. That gap is an awkward place to sit.

The symptoms are familiar. A new starter’s laptop isn’t ready on their first morning. Somebody who left in March still has access to the shared drive. Three different teams have signed up for three different file sharing tools on the company card. A password reset takes two days because the only person who knows the admin login is on holiday.

None of it is a crisis. It’s friction, spread thinly across everyone, and it adds up to a surprising amount of lost time and a genuine amount of risk.

At the same time, the questions coming at you have got harder. Bigger customers ask about your security before they’ll sign. Tenders ask for certification. Your insurer’s renewal form now asks whether you enforce multi-factor authentication, and somebody has to answer honestly.

You Need Structure, Not Just Someone to Ring

At 10-50 people, the problem isn’t that things break. It’s that nobody owns the process for starters, leavers, access and updates.

Why this is a concern:

When one person’s laptop plays up, one person loses an hour. When a shared system goes down, or permissions are wrong, or a folder nobody checked turns out to be open to the whole company, it lands on a department. The cost scales with your headcount, and so does the risk.

Access is the part that catches most businesses out. As teams grow, people accumulate permissions they no longer need, leavers keep accounts that were never closed, and nobody has a clear picture of who can reach what. That’s exactly the gap attackers rely on, and exactly what an insurer or auditor will ask you to evidence.

Why it's important:

The businesses that scale well through this stage aren’t the ones with the biggest IT budget. They’re the ones who put a few processes in place early: a proper starter and leaver routine, clear permissions, enforced multi-factor authentication, monitored and patched devices, and backup that covers the cloud as well as the server. Boring, unglamorous, and the difference between growth feeling smooth and growth feeling chaotic.

Solutions

These are some of the things we do to help your business

Starters, Leavers and Access Under Control

A proper joiner and leaver process, so new people are ready on day one and departing people lose access on their last day. Clear permissions, so the right teams reach the right data and nobody else does.

Security That Stands Up to Scrutiny

Multi-factor authentication enforced across the business, monitored and patched devices, threat detection, and backup that covers Microsoft 365 as well as any server you still run. The things your customers and your insurer are now asking about.

One Team Who Know Your Whole Setup

Unlimited support with no ticket caps, plus someone thinking ahead about capacity, licensing and what breaks next. We work alongside an internal IT person where you have one, rather than replacing them.

Not sure which one you need?

Two minutes, a handful of questions, and a straight answer – including if that answer is “you don’t need much”. No sales call at the end unless you ask for one.

At this size the question stops being "who do we ring when it breaks" and becomes "who makes sure it doesn't". Most businesses we meet at thirty people are still running the processes they built at eight, and it's nobody's fault. It just needs someone to own it.

Our recommendation for a business your size

We could list all four packages and let you work it out. Here’s what we’d actually say if you rang us.

For most businesses of 10-50 people, it's the Essential IT Support Service

Not because it’s the middle option, but because of what it covers. At your size the risk has moved. It isn’t one laptop playing up any more, it’s fifty inboxes, fifty logins and a shared drive that half the company can reach. Essential is the package that protects that properly: complete cloud and email security, real backup of your Microsoft 365 data, and device security across every machine, whether it’s in the office or on somebody’s kitchen table.

It also includes Microsoft 365 Business Premium and centrally managed email signatures, both of which you’re likely paying for separately today. So the change to your monthly outgoings is usually smaller than the headline figure suggests, and you get one bill and one number to ring instead of three suppliers.

If certification is on your horizon, look at Professional. When a customer, a tender or an insurer starts asking whether you’re Cyber Essentials certified, Professional includes the tools and the certification support rather than leaving you to arrange it in a hurry. Plenty of businesses at your size move up to it within a year, usually the week after a tender lands.

If you’ve already got security and Microsoft 365 handled elsewhere, Starter gives you unlimited support and core device protection on its own. Worth a conversation first, because at your size we’d want to check what “handled” actually means.

The Basics

What a business of your size actually needs - and what it doesn't.

A starter and leaver process that runs every time.

Accounts created before day one, accounts closed on the last day, equipment tracked. Most security incidents at this size trace back to an account nobody closed.

Permissions that reflect your org chart.

Not everyone needs the finance folder. Setting this up properly once is far easier than untangling it at eighty people.

Multi-factor authentication, enforced, with no exceptions.

Including for directors, who are the most targeted and the most likely to ask for an exemption.

Backup that covers cloud and server.

If you still run a server, it needs backing up. Microsoft 365 also needs backing up, and Microsoft doesn’t do that for you.

Someone watching, not just waiting.

Monitoring, patching and capacity planning, so problems get caught before your team reports them.

What can wait.

A full time internal IT hire, a formal service desk, and an ISO programme. Useful eventually, rarely the right first move at your size.

Switching is easier than you're expecting

Moving IT provider feels riskier at thirty people than at five, and that’s exactly why businesses put it off. In practice it’s a planned piece of work that happens in the background.

01

A proper conversation first.

We audit what you’ve actually got: devices, licences, who has access to what, what’s backed up and what only looks backed up. You get the findings whether or not you go ahead.

02

We handle the handover.

Including getting admin access and documentation from your current provider. It’s a conversation we have regularly and you don’t have to make that call.

03

We move you across in planned stages.

Device management, security and backup go in first, usually department by department, so nothing lands on everybody at once. No big bang weekend, no day of downtime.

04

Then you've got a team, and a process.

Unlimited support Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with out of hours cover available by arrangement, plus the starter and leaver routine running properly from week one.

Questions growing businesses ask us

We’ve compiled the questions we’re asked most often by businesses at this stage. If yours isn’t here, please get in touch.

Often yes, and usually to their relief. We take the routine work, the out of hours worry and the specialist security side, so the person doing it as a side job gets their actual role back. Nobody loses their job over it.

Yes, and a lot of our customers at this size are set up that way. They keep the internal knowledge and the relationships; we bring the tooling, the security stack and the cover when they’re on holiday.

It becomes a process rather than a scramble. You tell us, we handle accounts, licences, access and equipment, and the leaver’s access ends on their last day rather than whenever somebody remembers.

Not necessarily. Plenty of businesses your size have good reasons to keep one, and we support servers as well as cloud. We’ll tell you honestly whether moving would save you money or just move the cost around.

Yes. Certification is included in our Professional package, and as an NCSC Assured Service Provider and IASME certified Cyber Advisor we take you through the whole process rather than handing you a questionnaire.

Same protection, same access rules, same support. Hybrid working is where access control stops being theoretical, so it’s built into how we set things up rather than added on.

Pricing is per user, so it moves with your headcount rather than in step changes. You’re not paying today for the size you might be in two years.

We’re based in Bristol and work across Bath, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Somerset and Swindon, with remote support anywhere in the UK.

Ready when you are

You’d be in good company. We support growing businesses across Bristol, Bath, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Somerset and Swindon, and we’re an NCSC Assured Service Provider, Cyber Essentials Plus certified, and ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 accredited. The same standards our largest customers audit us against, applied to a team of thirty just as carefully.

If you’re not ready to talk to anyone yet, the buyer’s guide covers what to look for and what to avoid. If you are, we’ll give you a straight answer, including if that answer is that you’re fine as you are.

Reassuring Availability
